On 4 April 2025, in Juliaca (Puno), hundreds of residents, communal leaders, and merchants gathered at Armas square to carry out a sit-in demonstration, demanding Juliaca to remain the headquarters for the construction of a high performance school in the region as announced by the regional government. The group rejected the request of locals from Puno to build the institution in that municipality.
