On 2 April 2025, the management of a private health facility assaulted four journalists in the company of a medical officer in Homa Bay (Homa Bay Town, Homa Bay) for covering the closure of the facility after it failed to meet the requirements needed to function as a medical facility. The medical officer escaped unhurt, while the extent of injuries for the journalists is unknown/not reported.
