[Venezuela] Strategic developments: Arrests

On 8 April 2025, in El Callao (Bolivar), DGCIM officers arrested 36 workers and associates of the Turkish-Venezuelan gold mining company Mibiturven. Representatives from Saudi Arabia had traveled to purchase an unknown quantity of gold. When the Government requested the gold from Mibiturven, the company did not have the required amount, prompting an investigation into the possible misappropriation of gold. Military officers, security guards, managers, and sub-managers were among those detained. They were indicted for criminal association, fraudulent embezzlement, terrorism, and aggravated robbery. The detainees were transferred to El Rodeo I prison in Miranda.
