[Peru] Riots: Violent demonstration

On 8 April 2025, in Bellavista (Callao), dozens of official public transport drivers, residents and relatives of drivers carried out a demonstration by blocking the intersection of Venezuela and Elmer Faucett Avenues, rejecting two hitmen attacks against transporters earlier the same day, where one died and the other was wounded. The group called and demanded greater measures to tackle criminality, a change in the strategy to fight extortionist groups and hitmen attacks and the resignation of the president (independent politician). The group forced passengers to get off buses circulating as part of their demonstrations. Police forces intervened trying to disperse the crowd and clashes broke out. There were no casualties.
