Around 16 April 2025 (week of), in Taunggyi town (Taunggyi township, Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), the Myanmar military abducted five young people from Kyaung Gyi Su, Hpa Yar Hpyu, and Shwe Taung wards whose names were listed for military conscription. They were arrested upon returning to their homes for Thingyan festival after fleeing the town in late 2024 to avoid conscription.
