Around 10 April 2025 (between 8 - 12 April), OLA fighters shot and killed 9 people in Surge Kebele, Haro Limu (East Wollega, Oromia). The attack targeted the family of a suspected OLF-OLA defector accused of having involvement (aiding government forces) in the killing of the OLA commander. 7 of the victims were believed to be family members and relatives of a former defector from Surge kebele. The armed group targeted the victims because he was suspected of aiding security forces in the hunt for the OLF-OLA commander.
