[Panama] Riots: Violent demonstration

On 3 April 2025, in Panama City, Panama, students of the University of Panama demonstrated against the reforms to the Social Security Fund (CSS), blocking roads and clashing with police forces deployed for crowd control. The police fired tear gas and pellets at the demonstrators. The President of the Panama Teachers Association (APUDEP) denounced that the firing of tear gas and pellets damaged vehicles and facilities of the University of Panama, as well as nearby buildings. In addition, the students reported that the riot police fired pellets at a university security officer.
