On 7 April 2025, police reservists pursued and ambushed suspected Turkana militia, leading to an armed clash in Merti (Merti, Isiolo), moments after the militia raided Mea village and made away with 87 cattle, 22 goats, and seven donkeys (coded separately). 3 police reservists were shot dead, while several others sustained injuries as the militia seized three firearms and 180 rounds of ammunition belonging to the deceased officers, before fleeing.
