On 5 April 2025, Al Shabaab launched an attack against a General Service Unit (GSU) police camp in Basuba (Lamu East, Lamu). The attack was initiated with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) followed by an exchange of gunfire from both sides. There were no casualties on the GSU officers sides repulsed the militants towards Kiangwe forest. The officers recovered an AK-47 rifle believed to have been abandoned by the militants during the escape. Al Shabaab claimed to have torched tents inside the camp, which housed supplies and other equipment. Casualties unknown.
