On 10 April 2025, teachers from Al Suwaira district protested in front of the Education Directorate in Suwaira city (Wassit) against decisions of the government, accusing also the Teachers' Union of siding with the government against the educational staff. The protesters demanded the implementation of the law protecting the teachers as well as adjusting salary scale, increasing allowances for professional and allocating plots of land.
