[Guatemala] Violence against civilians: Attack

On 4 April 2025, around La Union, Zacapa, a convoy of vehicles of a Vamos party woman national deputy was shot at by an unknown number of armed individuals at kilometer 174 of the La Union-Gualan highway. There were no injuries, but one of the vehicles fell into a ravine. The motive for the attack is unknown, although according to a source, the congresswoman had a dispute with a congressman who was facing expulsion from the CABAL party and the same congressman had publicly accused the congresswoman of demanding bribes for public projects. There were no casualties.
