[Guatemala] Protests: Peaceful protest

On 7 April 2025, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, members of the Maya indigenous organization known as 48 Cantones held a peaceful protest march, departing from the National Culture Palace towards the Congress. They demanded that the salary cuts for MPs be used for social programs benefitting the population, and protested against the unification of the national security number. They were received by a small number of MPs, but the number was not sufficient to hold an official debate afterwards.
