On 17 April 2025, armed youth from Jonglei State's Fangak County (likely members of the 'White Army' (Nuer ethnic militia) who have been involved in similar incidents in the region) suspected to be supported by SPLM/A-IO members clashed with SSPDF forces in Owachi village, that functions as a military base, located a few miles away from Malakal Town on the west bank of the White Nile in Panyikang County (Panyikang, Upper Nile). The clash ensued after the armed youth attempted an assault in Owachi but were repulsed by the military. Casualties unknown.
