On 7 April 2025, unknown people (coded as an unidentified armed group) abducated, tortured and injured a presiding officer during the ODM-Azimio party grassroots elections in an unspecified location within Lurambi constituency (coded to the subcounty headquarters as Kakamega, Lurambi, Kakamega), moments after the victim had been abducted.
