On 8 April 2025, in Quito - Manuela Saenz (Pichincha), dozens of prison guards and their families carrying signs and chanting slogans carried out a march through the Centro Historico towards the Plaza Grande and held a demonstration in front of the Carondelet Palace. They stated the government neglects prison officers after five prison guards were killed in Portoviejo (coded separately).
