On 8 April 2025, in Pelileo (San Pedro de Pelileo, Tungurahua), between 5,000 and 15,000 people carrying signs marched from the Salasaca plaza against insecurity and voiced their dissatisfaction with violence. Merchants, families, neighbors, authorities and members of the peasant council also joined the march towards Republica de Argentina market square.
