On 16 April 2025, in Pailon (Santa Cruz), a group of residents, the mayor of the municipality (MAS) and city councilors carried out a demonstration by blocking the Bioceanica highway, protesting against a court ruling that includes the municipality in a different circumscription from the one previously recognized by a different court. The group demanded the supreme electoral court to recognize the first ruling as the municipal boundary.
