On 15 April 2025, a 17-year-old student armed with a .40-caliber handgun entered into Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas (Texas) and began firing indiscriminately into crowds of students. Four students were injured by gunfire, and a fifth was injured while fleeing the attacker. The attacking student was let into the school by another student through an unsecured door as the school had metal detectors and a clear-bag policy. The attacking student was taken into custody a couple of hours after the shooting. The motivation for the attack was not immediately clear, but the attacking student's family claimed he was being bullied and was also threatened by a gang. The attacking student appeared to both fire into crowds 'indiscriminately' and to go up to an individual student unable to flee and take a 'point-blank shot.' No fatalities.
