Around 8 April 2025 (between 8 - 15 April), Rwandan military forces and Local Forces clashed with ISM militants and dismantled their base used to train new ISM recruits in the Macomia forest near Litamanda (coded to Litamanda, Chai, Macomia, Cabo Delgado). Some militants surrendered and were taken to Pemba, while others tried to escape and were shot and wounded. Sources differ on details: one source indicated there were about 50 ISM militants in army uniforms spotted by the Local Force via a drone, and no shots were fired; one source claimed the event occurred near the Muidumbe border.
