Around 16 April 2025 (as reported), a mob beat up and injured two suspects, who are part of a three-man gang in Mutuovare (also known as Mutuobare) market (Mbeere South, Embu), over the accusation of engaging in an unspecified theft. The suspects were rescued by the police and placed under custody. Their associate, an off-duty police officer, was whisked by fellow officers to safety.
