On 17 April 2025, locals from Shangching and Lungreiphung villages clashed in an area between the two villages (coded to Lungreiphung village, Ukhrul, Manipur) over land dispute resulting in the death of one and injury to five, three from Shangching and two from Lungreiphung villages. Exchange of fire also took place. Ukhrul's District Magistrate issued a prohibitory order and restricted movement between the two villages to prevent further escalation of violence.
