On 11 April 2025, persons from the Meitei Pangal community including students staged a protest rally organised by Joint Organising Committee Hatta Golapati with placards and slogans from Golapati Centre Point till the Golapati Public Ground in the Hatta area of Imphal city (Imphal West, Manipur) opposing the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 claiming that it violated Muslim rights and demanded its repeal. A similar protest was also staged at Kshetrigao Aba Ground attended by a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and at Mantripukhri.
