On 17 April 2025, thousands of people, including students, lecturers, and non-academic university staff, held a demonstration in front of the Abulyatama University in Lampoh Keude village (Kuta Baro district, Aceh Besar regency, Aceh province). They demanded a resolution of the management dispute within the university. They clashed with people hired by one of the disputers who banned them from entering the campus. The students tore down the campus gate, while the other group of people threw rocks and hit them with wooden sticks. A person hired by one of the disputers was killed, and seven others sustained injuries. The campus officials claimed the death was not linked to the violence.
