[Cyprus] Protests: Peaceful protest

On 2 April 2025, Turkish Cypriot teachers, organized by KTOEOS, walked out of every public school in Northern Cyprus (coded to Nicosia) expanding their protests that were dubbed in some media as the 'headscarf crisis' as teachers turned away students wearing hijabs and chadors. The leader of KTOEOS read out a prepared statement decrying the state of education in Northern Cyprus. On 4 April, the Turkish Cypriot transport minister said children wearing hijabs should be escorted into Turkish Cypriot schools by the police.
