[Colombia] Battles: Armed clash

On 9 April 2025, in Cucuta - North (Norte de Santander), members of the ELN abducted two on-duty soldiers who were responding to a minor grievance involving residents in the Colinas del Tunel neighborhood. Hours later, the Camilo Torres Restrepo faction of the ELN released a statement claiming responsibility for the kidnapping and accusing the soldiers of espionage and acts of intimidation against the civilian population. The soldiers were handed over to a UN commission and released on 20 August.
