On 17 April 2025, in the rural area of Santa Barbara municipality (Bahia), military police officers exchanged fire with unidentified armed suspects. The officers conducted an operation in the region after receiving reports about suspects who were conducting the disassemble of stolen vehicles. The suspects fired against the officers once they were approached and an armed clash took place. During the clash, five suspects were shot and killed. Police seized firearms and ammunition. 5 fatalities.
