On 17 April 2025, suspected armed Fulani pastoralists opened fire on a bus transporting students from Rivers State University, injuring 2 and abducting 10 others in the Ugbogui community, also spelled as Ugbogwi (Ovia South West, Edo). The students were the Seventh Day Adventist Church Campus Fellowship members, traveling to Ogun State for an annual Easter Convention. Police clashed with the abductors and rescued the hostages (coded separately). There were no fatalities.
