[India] Violence against civilians: Attack

On 3 April 2025, family members of a deceased migrant worker from Bangladesh claimed that the BSF probably picked up the worker and shot him dead at Bhoram Payasthi village in Gitaldaha block area (Cooch Behar, WB). BSF contested the claim stating that the deceased was associated with a cross-border smuggling group and was fired upon after the group attacked the BSF personnel with sharp-edged weapons upon which they retaliated with gunfire. However nothing was recovered from the deceased at the site.
