[Indonesia] Violence against civilians: Attack

On 7 April 2025, TPNPB attacked and killed miners at Area 22, Area 33, Muara Kum, Camp Muradala, Tanjung Pamali, and Area Kepala Air Mumok mining sites in Yahukimo regency (coded at Dekai district, Yahukimo regency, Highland Papua province). Sixteen miners died in attacks by the rebels between 6-8 April in Yahukimo (fatalities are divided between three events; 5 fatalities coded for this event). The victims suffered gunshot wounds, machete slashes, and arrow injuries. Thirty-five miners survived and were secured by the Indonesian police and military forces in Mabul village. Eight miners were missing, and their whereabouts were unknown. The TPNPB spokesperson stated that the attack occurred from 6 April to 8 April. The victims' ethnicity was likely non-Papuan based on the names.
