On 22 March 2025, in Uvero Alto, La Altagracia, more than 1,000 Haitian construction workers held a demonstration at a hotel construction site demanding higher wages to their patron, who responded by firing and killing one demonstrator. In response, the demonstrating workers beat up and injured the patron and set fire to several vehicles belonging to the construction company. Police forces intervened and arrested six demonstrators and the injured patron. 1 fatality, 1 injured.
