On 11 April 2025, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, organized by AKEL and union Dev-Is and accompanied by the band of EDON, marched in Nicosia carrying torches to mark the 1965 ambush and killing of Turkish Cypriot Kavazoglu and Greek Cypriot Misiaoulis, who became symbols of bicommunal friendship. The protesters demanded peace and the reunification of the island.
