On 16 April 2025, a mixed contingency of security forces including military forces, beat and injured a man at a vehicle checkpoint in Bwitingi, coded to the commune seat, Buea (Buea, Fako, Sud-Ouest). He was accused of being an Ambazonian Separatist. The military officers also extorted 450,000 CFA from the victim. The military officers were later arrested.
