On 15 April 2025, in Temuco (Araucania), students and legal guardians erected incendiary barricades outside the IDI Indigenous student residence (close to Frontier University premises) to demand that its management be transferred to the National Board of School Aid and Scholarships (Junaeb) to avoid its closure. Demonstrators feared that the residence would be otherwise closed and accused the Araucania Ministerial Secretariat for Education of historically neglecting it. The residence was the only support center for Mapuche Indigenous secondary school students in the country. Police intervened to extinguish the barricades but made no arrests.
