[Benin] Riots: Violent demonstration

Around 8 April 2025 (as reported), a mob of members of one family threatened and sequestered members of another family in the village of Sawame Houagnonhoue, also spelled Houenouhoue (Klouekanme, Couffo), in the arrondissement of Lanta, to contest a court decision against them in a land dispute. The police intervened (means unspecified) to restore order and enforce the court decision. The mob threw stones and other projectiles at the police, who fired back (means unspecified), killing 1 of the mob. An investigation has been launched. Some have left the village fearing reprisals.
